HCI operates through the framework of scientific anatomical gift legislation. All preservation services are structured as Scientific Anatomical Gift & Brain Donation Directives — explicitly not medical services.
The legal posture.
The legal mechanism that makes post-mortem preservation possible is scientific anatomical gift legislation, which allows individuals to donate their post-mortem tissue for research purposes. This legislation exists across most EU member states, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Cross-border transport to permissive preservation jurisdictions (Switzerland, UK) is handled under standard international corpse transit permits. Our legal team advises each member on the specific requirements for their jurisdiction during the consultation process.
We do not accept members without ensuring a legally sound pathway is in place.
The Patient Care Trust.
The Patient Care Trust is a Swiss Stiftung (foundation) with a legally independent board of trustees. Its mandate is to protect the biological assets regardless of what happens to the operating foundation.
At a conservative 4% real return, the endowment is structured to generate sufficient yield to cover storage costs for centuries without additional funding. If the operating foundation fails, the trust continues.
This is why the fee structure is designed the way it is: most of every membership fee goes directly into the legally protected endowment — not into the operating budget. The trust serves the asset; the operating foundation serves the members.

HCI is not a medical provider. Preservation is performed under scientific anatomical gift legislation, not as a medical procedure. We do not provide medical advice, and nothing on this website should be construed as medical advice.
HCI does not guarantee future digital emulation or biological revival. ASC is a speculative bridge technology. We commit to preservation quality, not to the science that may eventually read the preserved structure.
